Four HK suspects including woman charged in Australia over 720 liters of ‘ice’ shipped from city

Reports in Australia said the four were charged with importing and manufacture of 720 litres of methamphetamine.

Australian Federal Police State Manager NSW Commander Chris Sheehan, said the shipping container from Hong Kong “was found to contain gel bra inserts and hidden inside those gel bra inserts was 190 litres of liquid methamphetamine.’’

He said investigations also uncovered another 530 liters of liquid methamphetamine in Sydney.

“These drugs were concealed inside art supplies housed in five storage units in Sydney in the suburbs of Miranda, Hurstville, Padstow and Kingsgrove," local broadcaster ABC reported him as saying.

The Hong Kong men were arrested following a joint operation involving the Australian federal police, New South Wales police, Australian Border Force, and the Australian Crime Commission.

A 33-year-old Hong Kong man was held in January for shipping the drug. The drugs were shipped in a container from Hong Kong.

Three others, a 59-year-old man, a 37-year-old man, and a 52-year-old woman were arrested and charged for drugs kept in storage, the police said.

NSW justice minister Michael Keenan told the media in Sydney today the seizure “resulted in 3.6 million individual hits of ice being taken off our streets with a street value of A$1.26 billion.’’

He called it “on of the largest drug seizures in our country," the local broadcaster ABC reported.
